Today, we remember.

We remember where we were when we saw the news of the first tower being struck. We remember the shock and disbelief when we all watched in real-time as the plane flew into the second tower.

We remember pulling our loved ones closer. We remember how nothing else mattered on that day but what we saw over and over again on news shows.

We remember how on that day, we were proud to be Americans even though our America may not have always been a place to be proud of.

Twenty years later, that is what we must never forget.

We must never forget that we are stronger united than divided.

We must never forget that for all of our faults, people would still choose to hold on to the outside of a plane to flee their country in order to come to ours.

We must never forget that God has plans for America, even though the plan of God is bigger than America.

Most of all, we must never forget that we are all Americans. We are different in so many ways, but we are the same in the ways that matter most.

Today, we remember that we are one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

May we never forget that those values are still worth fighting for.
