On the move

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Today is moving day for our son, Will. He’s been working and preparing for this move back to Charlotte since he graduated from college in May, and now, it’s time.

Moving days remind me of a simple, but profound truth: we can’t move and stay in the same place simultaneously. Moving means letting go of what was and has been in order to step into what is and will be.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭NIV, emphasis mine)

Paraphrasing what Paul is saying, we could say, “You can’t move forward by standing still.” God is doing new things all the time and all around us, and we won’t step into them if we’re still holding on to the past.
