Be Like Mike

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I still remember the “Be Like Mike” campaign from the 1990s. Kids would play basketball and pretend that they were Michael Jordan. It was cute, charming, and iconic. It was a slam dunk for Gatorade.

Have you ever thought about who you want to be like? Everything we do is influenced by someone, isn’t it? The way we dress, the way we talk, the music we listen to. It’s all an attempt to be like somebody.

It’s good to have models and examples. There is power and freedom in having a pattern to guide us in the choices that we make, and that is why it is so important to make sure that we’re being influenced in healthy and good ways.

Voices influence choices, so we need to be careful who we’re listening to.

If not, we may end up being like something that we never intended to be.
