Over the last few days, one verse has echoed over and over in my soul:
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in secret You will make wisdom known to me. (Psalms 51:6 NASB, emphasis mine)
The Hebrew word translated as “the innermost being” is tuwchah, and it means “inner regions, hidden recesses.” It also carries the idea of a kidney under fat. Needless to say, it’s a place that is buried way down in the innards of who we are.
In that place, God desires truth. He’s seeking people who are so committed to truth and integrity that it would be found even when people dig into the secret and hidden places of their lives.
And what happens when God finds those people? He gives them wisdom and revelation. The Father, Who desperately wants to reveal Himself to us, values the weighty revelation so much that He won’t release it to people who lack the solid foundation of truth.
What does this mean for those of us who crave the revelation of revival? Simply that it won’t be given to those who play church, or those who only allow God at surface levels.
If we want deeper revelation from God, we’ve got to allow the current revelation from God to go deeper.
It hurts. It exposes. But it also prepares us to carry the weight of the glory that can only be given to those who have truth all the way down to the innards.
