Thankfully, mercifully, it’s over. The 2007-2008 basketball team that will forever be known as the Pathetic Pack in my book (a far cry from the Cardiac Pack of Wolfpack fame) turned in one of the sorriest efforts of the season and is out of the ACC tourney.
The stats are shocking enough. 50 points scored (27 by J.J. Hickson alone), never led, shot barely over 30% for the game and 13% from 3-point land. The most shocking stat of all for me was this jewel: their opponent shot 36% and State still lost by 13 points!
The team that was picked to finish third in the ACC this year did fulfill at least one part of that prediction. They finished. Last. Not even third from last. Hang the red coat up, boys. It’ll be a long summer ’till football kicks off.
