Free to serve

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As our nation celebrates its freedom, let me remind all of us that freedom isn’t the end game. Freedom is a reality that allows us to pursue the end game of interdependence.

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. ‭‭(Galatians‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭NLT, emphasis mine)

Much of the division in our nation stems from an unwillingness to use our freedom to ensure the freedom of others. The gospel has a different approach: now that we’re free, we should be serving others like crazy.

Far from freedom marked by independence, this freedom is marked by interdependence. That type of freedom speaks loudly to a world that can’t get along.
