Keep pioneering

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Today I wanted to settle.

I looked at how much I’ve written in 2 months and thought, “Maybe that’s good enough.”

This post is my declaration that it isn’t. Not by a long shot.

Doing something new takes time and commitment. Going somewhere you’ve never gone before or establishing a habit that you’ve never had before requires a pioneering spirit. Settlers need not apply.

Like me, maybe you’ve set some lofty goals, and maybe you’re well on your way to meeting them and are realizing that there’s still a long way to go before you do. Like the pioneers of old whose goal was to reach the Pacific but found themselves worn out from crossing the Mississippi, it’s normal to want to settle short of success and significance.

After all, crossing the Mississippi is no small achievement, but it isn’t the same as reaching the Pacific.

So today, I acknowledge that December 31, 2021, is still a long ways off and that on this day writing every day for a year seems daunting. But I’m writing because I’m making the choice to keep pioneering.

I hope that you keep pioneering, too.
