One Height I’m Not Afraid Of

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Ephesians 2:6
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.

Sky from planePeople that know me are well aware of the fact that I am pretty freaked out about heights. Not just a little scared, but very close to wet my pants scared. In fact, I once got stuck at the top of the world’s tallest ferris wheel and, well, let’s just say it was not something I’d want to do again. Tall balconies at hotels? Makes me feel funny in my gut. High chairs? Well, I’m okay with those, but that’s about it. There is one height that doesn’t freak me out, and it’s the one that God placed me at.

There’s a lot that can be unpacked from this verse, but the one point that I want to make crystal clear is the one that was so brilliantly displayed to me on the flight I just took from Charlotte to Chicago. After the snack, I took a peek out my window and saw the shot you see with this Evotion. The sky was a brilliant blue and the clouds were stretched out as fas as I could see. It looked like snow that had just fallen and it was so peaceful. It was enough to make me forget that just below those clouds it was dark, dreary, and wet. Height can do that. It can give us a higher perspective than the level at which we usually walk around.

Whatever you’re facing, know this. There is a place that is higher than where you are. It is peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. It is filled with the presence of Christ, and your heavenly Father has placed you there.

Don’t come down.
