As long as I can remember, I’ve heard saints praying for revival. They’ve been passionate, authentic, and whole-hearted in those prayers as they sought hard for revival.
But there’s more to it than just seeking revival. Sometimes we have to seed what we seek.
Imagine me standing in a field pleading with God for corn. Day and night, I come passionately and boldly seek corn. I even tell God that when He blesses me with corn, I’ll bless others with corn. I get others to join me in the field who are just as committed to seeking corn as I am, and maybe even more committed. It isn’t long before others can count on the fact that at the same time every day or week, they’ll see us in the field seeking God for corn.
But at some point, someone has to plant some kernels. Somebody has to put some seed in the ground so that it can produce the very thing we’re seeking.
How many are seeking a revival that they aren’t seeding? We earnestly ask but don’t consistently plant the seeds that lead to revival. Seeds of repentance, holiness, evangelism, worship.
Plant those seeds in the ground, and watch God begin to grow from them the very revival you’ve been seeking. Seed what you seek, and the harvest will come.
