Setting out
Early this morning, our son, Parker, pulled away in a 16-foot rental truck on his way to his next adventure, and the Lord brought the following verse to my mind.
As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do so that I may inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17 NASB, emphasis mine)
There are so many unknowns at the beginning of a journey. How long will it take? What will the new place be like? Sometimes in the Bible, the biggest unknown was where the new place would be!
So often, the most important step of obedience is simply the next one because God knows once He can get us moving, He can direct us along the way to the people He’s sending us to.
[Tweet “God moves His people to places because He loves the people in those places.”]As you set out on your journey today, remember that God is going to bring you to people along the way who need what you carry. They are the reason you are moving, not just a new place or a new adventure. God moves His people to places because He loves the people in those places. So while we may not always know the how or the when or the who of a move, we can always know the why: so that this gospel would be preached everywhere until everyone knows.
