I slept through my alarm this morning. Or maybe I turned it off in my sleep. However it went down, I didn’t get up when I thought I would.
It’s not the first time this has happened, but usually, I would wake up in a bit of a low-grade panic knowing all the things on tap for the day would be getting a later start.
But this morning? Nah. I just told God thank you because the body He created knows what the body needs, and mine knew that I didn’t need an alarm today. What I needed was an hour or so more sleep than normal.
[Tweet “We can trust God to do for us what we can’t do for ourselves.”]In Psalm 127:2, the Bible says that the Lord grants sleep to those He loves. Another translation of that verse tells us that while we sleep, He provides the food we need. In other words, God is telling you and me that we can trust Him to do for us what we can’t do for ourselves. Our bodies have limits. So do our souls and our minds. But God? He’s limitless. He never needs a nap or a break, and when we do need those things, He’s on the job dealing with the things that caused us to need them.
If you’re tired, take a nap. It really could be the most spiritual thing you do today because our sleep is a gift from the Father. Your body knows what you need and so does the One Who created it. Rest in Him.
