Today is a pretty big day in my 2021 writing journey because today I’ll cross the first of two milestones this month. The second one will be three weeks from today when I write and post my last daily entry of the year. It’s hard to believe that I’m only 21 entries away from completing that goal, and trust me when I tell you, there will be a celebration that day!
But today will be a mini-celebration because today I’m going to write my 100,000th word of the year. The word total is far beyond anything I ever thought I’d do, and it reminds me of another important lesson that I’ve learned this year.
Impossibilities shrink when we simply do what’s possible.
If you had asked me a few years ago if I would be able to write over 100,000 words in a calendar year, I’d have laughed and said no. It seemed like an impossible number, but it has become a reality simply because I did what was possible. Maybe writing a hundred thousand words in a year seemed impossible, but I could write 10, 50, or 100 words or more in a day.
When you string enough of those possible days together, you’ll probably find yourself celebrating at the end something that seemed impossible at the beginning.
Start with what’s possible.
