The REAL Carolina

More about the win by the Gamecocks yesterday when I get home (I’m actually in the holy city today – Columbia, SC), but let’s start with a few observations:
- Phil hasn’t posted anything about the game yet, probably because his TarHeels got beaten at home
- I had another great blog post ready at halftime of the game because it looked like the Gamecocks were gonna punk the Tarheels at home, but
- I have to regroup since the Gamecocks almost choked the game away with 62 total yards in the second half
The best part of yesterday? The #1 and #2 teams lost and there’s a real possiblity that the real Carolina could be in the top 5. Of course, South Florida may very well be number 3 which is enough to blow anybody’s mind.

You should have blown us away. I thereby dub UNC still THEE Carolina. I also dub South Carolina pretty good at football, but not good enough to blow out the Real Carolina. (Come swiftly college basketball season, come swiftly!)
Yeah, we should have. Wait, we did for the first half of the game. But that was what my original blog was about. Our failure to punk you once we started was the reason we got ranked #6 in the first BCS poll.
Oh well, at least we won. And now I get to listen to stupid UNC fans talk about how in some twisted way the loss was actually a good thing and proved something about the program other than the fact that they lost…again.
It proves nothing. BUT, give Butch 2 or 3 more years to break in his class. We WILL BE contending for the BCS (if there is a BCS) in 2010.
We’ll see. Give UNC credit for hiring a good coach. Time will tell if he’s able to build a national power.
