Waiting for something

Reading Time: < 1 minute

This morning, there is no candle burning, and I’m not sipping a freshly brewed cup of coffee as I write. This morning, I’m writing from the waiting room in the service department of a car dealership.

And I’m waiting.

But here’s the deal: I’m not just waiting. I’m waiting for something, and that makes the waiting bearable. At some point, the waiting will end because the side mirror of my car will be fixed. If I was just sitting here reading the same posters over and over again without having a car being fixed, that would be a little nuts. Nobody wants to wait for no reason, and the really good news is this: God doesn’t want us to, either.

Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭NASB, emphasis mine)

We’re called to do even more than just wait, or even just wait on something. We’re waiting on Someone, and He brings us new strength, takes us to new heights, and gives us increased perseverance.

Now that’s worth waiting for, even in a waiting room with bad coffee.
